I'm actually way back at Gtk-- 1.0.2, so stability should presumably be
OK. At any rate, if it's going to kill me, it will do it in a rational,
methodical, planned way, rather than in some sort of messy psycho serial
killer way.

I figured out that my problem was that I'd foolishly failed to set the
event mask. A call to the add_events method fixed my problem.
