menu bug/feature ?

Okay, we discovered this a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to verify it
on multiple machines/versions.

The anomoly:
	When a menu item is seelcted but not activated, pressing a key
sequence assigns that key sequence to the menu item.

on on hand I see this as acool feature for power users, on the other hand
ti could cause problems with novices accidentily using it.

This occurs in 1.2.7 and 1.2.8

Just trying to clarify if this is intended.
