ItemFactory callbacks and radio buttons

The tutorial does a terrible job of explaining callbacks
from ItemFactories. I've heard that there's multiple
types of callbacks. What I'm trying to do is connect a
set of radio buttons in a menu to a set of radio buttons
that are in my dialog. I would like them to always be
selecting the same thing. Could somebody tell me
how I could do this? Would it be possible to connect
both of them together with one callback or would multiple
callbacks be necessary? Also, how to I find out which
button is currently selected in a group of radio
buttons? Thanks.
