GtkStatusbarMsg list

hi all

Should GtkStatusbarMsg list be public or private/protected?  

RDP says that it shouldn't be modified directly, however, gtk-- has it
under public.  So I assume that it's ok to read it directly, as
testgtk which comes with gtk+ 1.2.6, but not to modify it?  IMHO, it
should be protected under the information hiding point of view.

How do you language binding developers deal with this?
