I've upgraded a couple of times now, so this stumps me. I'm running Red
Hat 6.1. Downloaded glib-1.2.6.tar.gz and gtk+-1.2.6.tar.gz just a short
time ago.
Configured, built and installed glib-1.2.6 without problem. It was placed
in /usr/local/lib/glib. Ran /sbin/ldconfig without complaint. Then, I tried
to run ./configure on the gtk+1.2.6 directory. Received this result:
checking for glib-config... /usr/bin/glib-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.4... no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for
the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB was incorrectly
installed
*** or that you have moved GLIB since it was installed. In the latter case,
you
*** may want to edit the glib-config script: /usr/bin/glib-config
configure: error:
*** GLIB 1.2.4 or better is required. The latest version of GLIB
*** is always available from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/.
I don't understand. I'd appreciate someone explaining the error to me, and
telling me what to do to resolve the error so I can get the latest gtk+
installed.
TIA,
Rich
