Yes, indeed.
And it can't be changed due to hardware limits !
I would very much LOVE to have a 24-bit visual.
But on my Sun SparcStation 5 there is no such thing available.
It might be different if you have one of the new UltraStations
with the right "graphics board" (to stay in PC language).
