xmodmap bug

Solaris 7 (X11R6), Open Windows desktop, Window Maker, GTK 1.2.

When I run `xmodmap mappingfile' to remap my keyboard, GTK applications
act somewhat strange. Those that were started from a terminal window
output this:

   ** WARNING **: 0 -> NULL

Gdk-Message: Got event for unknown window: 0

The number of such messages is somewhat larger than the number of
applications (and always the same), so I think it represents the number
of keys which were redefined. If I close the terminal window from which
the applications were started, then they will crash instead of displaying
warnings (but without generating core).

xev shows this:

MappingNotify event, serial 20, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 93, count 1

MappingNotify event, serial 20, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 94, count 1

MappingNotify event, serial 20, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 71, count 1

MappingNotify event, serial 20, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 72, count 1

MappingNotify event, serial 20, synthetic NO, window 0x0,
    request MappingKeyboard, first_keycode 49, count 1

Root window id is 0x37 (according to xdpyinfo).

Can something be done about this?
