I was hoping the archive was up but I have been unable to connect to
it all afternoon. My guess is this was a common problem, or maybe it
is a general autoconf problem, but you never know ... What I do know
is I cannot compile any of the gtk directories for the identical
reason.
I've downloaded the CVS editions of the glib, gtk+ and gimp, and
upgraded to autoconf 2.13 and automake 1.4, then I blew away all the
/usr/share/aclocal, automake and autoconf directories left over from
my RH 5.0 RPMS, and re-installed automake and autoconf just to make
sure.
WHen I run autoconf, I get a long list of
warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without default to allow cross compiling
which a post on the autoconf mailing list claims is benign.
When I then try to run the generated configure script in any of the
three directories, it fails immediately with
# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
./configure: syntax error near unexpected token `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE($PACKAGE,'
./configure: ./configure: line 584: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE($PACKAGE, $VERSION, no-define)'
glib, gtk+ and gimp all give identical results.
Did I miss something?
