  it is a typo : I stupidly copied the line for "automatic", changed 9 to 5
and forgot all about GTK_POLICY_AUTOMATIC. You probably want to change it to
GTK_POLICY_NEVER.

  But again, this is a bad solution, since you'd have to change GtkDefs each time
you do "perl Makefile.PL". It probably would be better to find where GtkDefs.c is 
created.
