Prob: Dynamically setting window icon name

Hi,
I am trying to set the window icon name after the widget is realized(shown) and getting segmentation fault in the  X library. However, the same call before the widget is realized works fine. Is it that the icon name can`t be changed once the window is realized??
I am using gdk_window_set_icon_name(GTK_WINDOW(toplevel), str);
Any help is appreciated
