Flexible List Widget?

Hi,

I'm looking for a widget that is like GtkCList but lets me insert any
other child widgets in cells (e.g. check buttons), and also lets the
user edit text in the cells.

Possibly something more like a "Grid" widget - I have looked at
GtkSheet but it seems kind of slow and a bit overkill for my needs,
and gnumeric-sheet also seems overkill (and I don't know if it's
designed to be that reusable?).

Does anyone know anything at all like what I want, anywhere?
