Disabling automatic widget resizing?

Hi!

I'm wondering how to have full control over the widgets positions and
sizes? For example, how can I make a window (300, 200) which contains a
button (10, 10, 70, 20)?
My button always gets resized to the size of its parent window. I've tried
gtk_container_disable_resize () in the window widget, but obviously I'm
doing something wrong.

Please give me a hint how to solve this,
