What ports of gdk/gtk? (GGI anybody?)

Just had a thought the other day. I use pretty much only gtk/gnome
apps for day to day stuff, so most of X's power is wasted.

If there was a port of gdk (and imlib) to ggi wouldnt that free
a large chunk of memory and be wa-hey faster to boot? (pun intended)
This would truly rock for the home/gnome user.
