I experimented with MI/X about a year ago, though it is nice if
you don't have anything else at hand it definitely does not compare
in features or usability to free software of comparable complexity
in Linux/Unix. You will spend more time trying to get it to be
75% useful, it's ok if your only need is xterms and some Tcl/Tk
but it definitely has problems with fonts.
If you don't want to shell $$$ for Xceed or Reflection X (I used
the later under Win95 with HP-UX CDE and was magnificent but
expensive), then I would recommend taking a look at:
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/
It's the Virtual Network Computing. Available for several platforms
including Windows/Solaris/Linux.
