I should be doing that .. but I'm not ... what I'm doing is a much much
cheaper hack ... I just bind select ... and when you select .. it unselects
... which sometimes works quick enough that the selection is never drawn ...
sometimes it doesn't ... needs to be better ... however there are other
instances when the selection is made apart from enter_notify ... maybe
catching both
