Hello, Tosin Osinubi:

When configure for glib installation, one thing is
very important: you should know where did you installed
your previous version of glib. As to me, i installed it in
prefix /usr
But when you run ./configure, the default prefix is
/usr/local. So it's not needed to remove the previous version,
you can just overwrite it.

so configure like this:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local

and the rest just goes the same:

make
make install
..

I think it will solve your problem.
