AIX v4.1--Help!!

Has anybody ever got Glib or GTK to run on AIX 4.1? I've got an AIX 
4.1.5.10 system and have gotten all the way up to GIMP to compile, 
but starting with testgmodule, everything core dumps. I can run 
testgmodule, or testgthreads. I've tested a few things and run in the 
debugger and found the getpwuid_r core dumps. I've tried building 
everything with --disable-threads but even the shared libraries seem 
to be core dumping. I don't want to have to build any glib 
applications as static.

Any advice? I think I'm going to give up.
