GTK upgrade on RH5.2

So, I downloaded a few terabytes of Gtk RPM's to update my RH-5.2,
this is what I downloaded:

    [root@c1030 Gtk]# ls
    gtk-engines-0.5-11.i386.rpm gtk+-1.2.1-4.i386.rpm
    glib-1.2.1-1.i386.rpm gtk+-devel-1.2.1-4.i386.rpm
    glib-devel-1.2.1-1.i386.rpm

But when trying to do the mass-upgrade I ran into these problems :(
Somehow it complaints about things that it needs and I already have.

[root@c1030 Gtk]# rpm -Uvh glib* gtk*
    failed dependencies:
	    libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.1) is needed by gtk+-1.2.1-4

Oddly enough, the history of the RPM's show that they have been built
by redhat... So why is it complaining about a failed dependency when
the libraries in question are already there with the right version
number? Either the dependencies are broken or something else. Does
this mean I downloaded all of that for nothing? will I have to
then also download superterabytes of Gnome stuff? will I become
deprived of good old Gimp? and worse of all will it break my two
favourite Window managers (WindowMaker & AfterStep, I use the
latter)? I would really really hate to fallback on FVWM* :'(

So, has anybody done this upgrade already? with RPM's? I have
1.1 in /usr/local because other programs need it. Ideas? this
is becoming a nightmare...

		Cheers (???),
				Emilio
