I decided to download and install gtk+1.0.5. I removed my gtk rpm packages
(rpm -qa|grep gtk shows nothing now).I unpacked and untar gtk+1.0.5.tar.gz.
I then did ./configure --prefix=/usr
make
[root]
make install
Now gtk-config --version reports 1.0.5. I can compile and build simple gtk+
programs, ie those from the faq. But now when I run gimp I get the following
error message,
gimp:error in loading shared libraries
/usr/lib/libgtk.so.1:undefined symbol:g_strdelimit
Can somebody help me please. My understanding was that I could install
gtk+1.0.5 without recompiling gimp and other gtk 1.0.1 programs.
If its of any information in /usr/lib I have libgtk.so, libgtk.so.1,
libgtk.so.1.0.5. The whole point of this exercise is/was to get gtk-- going.
Still I am learning.
/Lukas
