I agree.  There is not much of a reason to build all of 
the external widgets into the source, but that still doesn't mean
the contributed widgets like this shouldn't follow as close as
possible to the gtk form.

Or it should be part of a contributed widget bundle that builds a
static library and installs as an option to gtk.  I never like
having URL pointers all over the place as they are constantly out of 
date, so you can never find them.

I can tell you for sure that any pointer I give to this widget 
will be gone within the next two years. (when I graduate)
