For what it's worth, I have a Linux 2.0.29 box, with 16MB of RAM, and a
64MB swap file.  GIMP runs faster than Photoshop on a similarly equipped
system running Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Service pack 3, Build 1381.

My processor is an AMD K5/133, and the processor at work is a K6/233.

Go figure.
