GtkText Widget x and y positions

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything on it in the 
archive.  I am woring on a program that needs to know the x and y position in 
the text widget.  I can program one manually, but it looks like the text widget 
already stores this information (at least there are variables for it in the 
gtktext.h file).  Is there an easy way to get the position, or will I have to do 
it manually?
