Assuming that you have the include files installed (having a running
X11 system does not neccessarily mean you also installed the include
files which are only needed for compiling new programs - for runtime
you theoretically only need the libraries) it look like the
./configure script just didn't find the includes.
if you type "./configure --help" you'll see a list of all the
options. The one that will probably help you out is:
./configure --x-includes=/usr/X11R6/include (or wherever you find the
include files for X11 - they should be somewhere around there).
