scrollbars and signals

I tried sending this earlier, but it doesn't look like it got through. 

I started experimenting with scrollbars yesterday and had a couple of
questions.

1) I created three scrollbars and packed them all into a vbox. Why is it
that when I move one scrollbar, all three of them move?

2) What is the signal that the scrollbar emits when you move it?

3) Why do my scrollbars come up in a tiny window instead of something
more massive? Do I have to explicity set the geometry of the window from
inside the program?
