Incompatibility between GTK+-1.1.5 and GdkImlib-1.8.1

Hello

some minutes ago I've send a patch to compile Imlib with GTK+-1.1.5.
I've done this compilation only because I've got strange behaviour
of my installed GdkImlib library which was compiled against
GTK+1.1.3 (or deeper (?), it's from the Debian potato/unstable tree).

But the GdkImlib compiled against GTK+-1.1.5 shows the same behaviour.

The problem is that images, which where rendered with imlib 
only appear for a moment of a flash on the window and than it is
cleared immediately.  That's not the case if I compile the same
program against GTK+1.1.3.

Is there somebody who knows the reason for that behaviour?
