Actually, the version of Solaris on this Ultra-5 is 2.6, which comes
with X11R6. You must be talking about an old version.

For the record, gtk 1.0.5 and 1.1.1 both compile "out of the box" on
Solaris 2.6. That's been my experience, anyway.
