key_press_event signal

Hi,

I've attached a signal handler to the key_press_event.  Unfortunately, my
function is being called twice for every key that is pressed.  On the
other hand, if I attach a function to key_release_event, my function never
gets called.  Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this?
