FWIW, don't forget that there are lots of items that _might_ serve as drop
targets. Lists, the gaps between (and before the first and after the last)
entries in lists, the same with menus and trees, etc.

I'm not sure whether it makes sense for this to be intrinsic behaviour,
but I thought I'd throw the idea out.
