There's also the "jagged left *and* right, but centered" style.
Programmers seems much more fond of this style than do typographers,
FWIW.

Interesting reference. I'd be interested in what the folks who've
been setting type for hundreds of years have learned from their
studies.

I much prefer the extra space after most stop characters. Perhaps
it's my bad typewriter training showing through.
