Init functions

Another, much simpler requestion: could the gdk_init and gtk_init
functions be made idempotent? It looks like they aren't, currently, and it
would be handy if they were, so I wouldn't need to worry about invoking
them several times, and more importantly, invoking gtk_init after gdk_init
has already been invoked.
