In that case, I will try to resolve this myself.

By the way, if I can find a solution to this issue, would that be accepted and
added in the next release by the pango community ?

Possible.

Or, do you plan to deprecate PangoFT2 in the upcoming releases?

No.

AFAIK Pango doesn't currently support that. And PangoFT2 is obsolete as far
as I'm concerned...

Okay, It does impact the resolution.

What I meant is that the effect is observed only when I change the
Y-resolution (dpi_y).

Moreover, the value passed in dpi_y impacts both the x-resolution and the
y-resolution. This behaviour seems wrong and is illustrated in the attached
output images and sample code. ( 72_140.bmp means dpi_x=72 and dpi_y=140 )

Can you tell me how do I modify only the X resolution (without impacting Y
resolution at all)?

It seems that it has something to do with FT_Set_Char_Size() statement in
pangoft2.c

What do you mean by this exactly?

The "resolution" is only used when converting from font size in points to font
size in pixels.
