Pango build without freetype

Hello

I hope i'm on the correct forum for my question. I'm trying to build
pango-1.4.0 without dependencies on Xft and FreeType and would like to have
only support for the X11 backend.
So far I have not been able to figure out what configure options or variables
I can use to force the build system to not look for FreeType and friends.

We have a small environment where we dont really need the support of
freetype. Andy help with getting this to build on a system freetype+xft and
not build against them.
