It supposedly works as of Pango-1.2. The two things that
need doing are:

 1) Testing (and debugging any problems found)

 2) Adding the necessary OpenType tables to the 
    Telugu free fonts:

      http://www.microsoft.com/typography/otfntdev/teluguot/default.htm

    (Somebody may already be working on this ... consult with
    your local experts.)
