cross-compiling glib-1.2

Hello,

I'm currently trying to cross-compile gtk1.2.5 for mips-linux 4.3. 

while I run configure in glib-1.2.5, I got error message saying "checking for extra flags to get ANSI library prototypes... configure: error: can not run test program while cross compiling".

CC=/usr/local/mips-4.3/bin/mips-linux-gnu-gcc ./configure --prefix=/opt --cache-file=mips-linux.cache --target=mips-linux --host=mips-linux --x-includes=/home/zlib-1.1.3 --x-libraries=/home/zlib-1.1.3

Unfortunately I still don't understand quite well what should I do to be able to configure and then make glib when using the cross-compiler.
