Weren't the GtkCellRenderer/GtkCellLayout interfaces written exactly
for stuff like those marks?

So maybe gtk_scale_add_mark_text() and gtk_scale_add_mark_icon() should
be replaced by an implementation of the GtkCellLayout interface?
