I just noticed those problems with different alignments aswell. I will
try to fix them.
About the different results, could you give me the code you use to
create your notebook, so I can see if it gives the same results on my
computer,
and if it does, try to fix it?

I do not really get the same effect applying your patch locally: instead
I see the tab displayed one pixel too high.
Also, your patch makes the situation worse when tabs are put at the
bottom
