what I'm looking for is eliminating the most basic drag effect, i.e.,
when I have a text entry with some text selected in it, and I try to
drag it, I get a new mouse cursor and a small box with my selection
written in it being dragged with it. That is what I wish to eliminate,
not the "drop" effect.
I tried using the gtk_drag_source_unset for that widget, but it didn't work...
Itai.
Cody - sorry for the double post.

I actually had to do it the other day at work. It's sort of hard to
describe.. but I had an entry over a treeview, and the entry was used
basically just for searching the treeview. Dropping of text into the
entry was not useful, and was ending up causing problems so I just
disabled it. It was a sort of unusual situation I think, and usually
there's not a good reason to disable drag-and-drop.
