One thing that should probably be pointed out is that rich text
support is turned off by default,
since the default value for the GtkTextBuffer:can-receive-rich-text
property is FALSE.
The interesting question to look at before we add this api is if the
tagset approach is one that will allow us to have almost universal
transfer for simple text attributes (bold, italic, underlined),
while allowing more elaborate transfer (eg xhtml fragments) between
narrower classes of
apps. It would be interesting to hear to perspective from gnumeric and
abiword hackers on this.
