My past performance measurement (host_os == win32, 1 is the fastest, 4
is the slowest):

1. cross-compile
2. Pure MSVC (with the help of perl.exe and dos batchs in the custom
build steps, without makefile.msc)
3. cross-compile with coLinux
4. cygwin
