For a patch that uses this approach, see the latest attachment to bug
#161797. (Hmm, I probably should have created a new bug for the
casefolding issues, this is no longer is about UNC paths.) It also
includes the suggested additional methods to GtkFileSystemIface, and
uses them then where appropriate.
