You didn't say a single time "Yes, GTK and GLIB will remain source and binary
backwards compatible" (well, it wouldn't be true), and you did not describe
future GTK plans for backwards compability (except for stuff about gtk2.X and
glib 2.(x+2)).
in general, glib and gtk will remain source and binary backwards compatible with
regards to the floating reference changes.

has the exact details on why/what the compat details are for particular gtk/glib
versions.
