Well, thanks for that. I searched bugzilla before my initial message,
but didn't think to do so after.

I agree. My real question was whether this was a glib issue at all, or
else I should be looking elsewhere. I did mention that I thought it
might be valgrind screwing up. I didn't know, and didn't want to be
littering bugzilla with spurious reports. I fully expected to be told,
"Yes, it's probably glib. Go file with bugzilla." (At which point, I
would have gone and created an account and done so.) Instead, there were
no replies at all.
Ok. I'm going away now. Thanks, Morten, for the timely fix. I only wish
that you had made a quick reply that the issue had been moved to
bugzilla...
