drawing_area oddity on win32

I have a window containing a gtk drawing area, displaying an image.
What happens when I drag another window over part of the drawing
area?  On Linux, and on win98, it works as expected.  But on XP
Professional, the dragged window leaves a "trail" over the drawing
area.  The trail disappears when the drag stops, but it's a bit
disconcerting.

The behavior described here is with gtk 2.2.3.
