I've also looked into this (I'm sure about two lines of the code I wrote
persist in the current incarnation of gtk-wimp :P), and today I was
thinking about icons.
Most "native" win32 apps don't have icons on buttons. Of course, things like
Delphi apps are an exception.
I thought about this too, so I filed a bug:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119377
Turns out that it's a dupe of these bugs that even have patches attached to
them:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78072
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82099
If anything, I think that this sort of patch should be committed to GTK or
perhaps something like the Dropline distribution of it. We shouldn't be
trying to do RC hacks. Evil.
