Yes, that was what I had in mind. I'll have a look at the Gtk 1.2
source.

My main motivation for this patch is that this opaque resizing is not so
good for:
- slow computers
- slow displays (eg: an handheld's framebuffer)
- low power (this opaque resizing is quite cpu intensive, not good for
handhelds)
- etc.. :D
Also, I guess this should be also available as a GtkSetting or something
(Owen suggested this, I'm not sure what a GtkSetting actually is :D but
I'm going to investigate).
