This looks like your tex setup on doesn't provide pdfjadetex , which is 
needed by
db2pdf. If that is the case by default on RH 7.2, I agree that it is 
better to not include
pdf in make dist and ship only html.

It might still be a good idea to make the pdf version available somewhere 
on ftp.gtk.org
(Tony Gale told me that "where can I get the tutorial in format XYZ ?" is 
a faq).
