I think it is OK to go ahead and make these changes. It looks like
we'll have to shoot for "official" win32 support only in 2.0.1
or 2.0.2, so we should target "works best" instead of "known stable"
for 2.0.0.

I might prefer if you held off until I get 1.3.14 out though; I'm
going to be doing the release for that today and a lot of churn
could make that more difficult.
