BTW, I have "almost ready" on my machine a largish set of changes to
the gdk/win32 backend. Do you see any reason not to commit it during
the next day or weekend? It am "almost" sure it doesn't make the Win32
backend worse. It does simplify the code and make 256-color mode work,
for instance. (I test it with the GTK+ test and demo programs, and
won't commit until they work OK, of course. However, I don't currently
have a GIMP 1.3 build environment set up, and unless I have the time
to do that, I can't check with GIMP.)
As the Win32 backend in HEAD doesn't work very well currently anyway
(IMHO), I don't think this should be held back because of the
impending GTK+ 2.0.0 release?
