 - There wouldn't be a big advantage to sharing it ... fribidi is not large
   and the number of apps that would need both fribidi in pango and fribidi
   directly is quite small.

 - I wanted to avoid having yet one more dependency in the library stack.

 - It gives isolation from changes in the fribidi API.
