Has anybody got gtk+-2.0.x working on hppa64-hp-hpux11.00

To all interested,

I'm currently working on getting gtk+-2.0.x running on 64bit hpux (11.00).
The environment is gcc-3.1.1 and binutils-2.13.  Everything compiles
and installs okay but even the simplest example program (helloworld2)
core dumps.  Unfortunately gdb-5.2.x is somewhat broken on this
platform and all I can get out is it looks like the problem could be
somewhere in gtype.c.

Does anybody have any experience on this platform and any hints
of whether this is a hpux problem or a 64bit problem.
